Recruitment of Fulton Basketball Standouts Gallman and Steele Heating Up

Fulton Falcon's senior James Gallman and junior Jalen Steele are starting to see a great deal of interest from college recruiters, as they enter the new school year.

Gallman, a rising senior shooting guard known for his three-point shooting and defensive toughness, was named the 2008 PrepXtra Basketball player of the year, while leading the Falcons to there first ever state basketball championship. In 2007, Gallman also earned recognition as the PrepXtra Sophomore of the year.

Steele, a rising junior wing known for his silky smooth jumpers and pin-point free throw shooting, was named the 2008 PrepXtra Sophomore of the year.

This summer, both Gallman and Steele were selected to play in the 2008 Pilot Rocky Top League that showcased many college and professional players with area ties. James was drafted (51st overall) by team Ray's ESG and played in all 7 games, averaging 5.9 points per game. Jalen was drafted (27th overall) by team Knoxville News-Sentinel and played in all 7 games, averaging 15.9 points and the second most minutes on the team.

The Knoxville News-Sentinel gives details of the recent recruitment of Gallman and Steele (Link to entire article: Fulton’s Steele getting more looks):
Fulton High School's two bona-fide college basketball prospects - junior wing Jalen Steele (6-foot-1, 185) and senior shooting-guard James Gallman (6-0, 180) - can attest. Steele is beginning the recruiting circus and recently received his first offer from Dayton of the Atlantic 10.
Fulton coach Jody Wright said Steele has "a lot of people watching him closely" and added that he has received a call or two per week this summer from college coaches impressed with Steele's play on the AAU circuit. South Carolina was one of those callers, and Wright called Steele, potentially, an "SEC-caliber player."
Gallman holds offers from Dayton, Middle Tennessee State and Appalachian State. Wright said MTSU has been on Gallman hard "from the get-go" and hasn't wavered on its commitment to Gallman "being a guard for them and playing quite a bit." Wright said some "bigger" Division I schools are still evaluating the senior, who's just as good a defender as he is a scorer.
