Smothering Second Half Defense, Big Play Offense Lead to 35-17 Victory over Scott County

The Falcons fell behind 10-7 to the Highlanders early in the second quarter, but shifted the game's momentum thanks to defensive adjustments and the aggressive running of sophomore tailback Demetrius Thomas. Thomas' 84 yard run in the second quarter kick started the Falcon offense, which took to the locker-room with a 21-17 lead. The Falcons struck for two unanswered touchdowns during the third quarter as sophomore QB Ben Winters hooked up with senior WR Courtland Styles for a 14 yard score and junior FB Quintest Vinson rumbled 87 yards up the middle of the Scott County defense. Meanwhile, the Falcon defense stymied the Highlander offense and collected 2 interceptions during the second half. The Fulton offense, which averaged 10 yards per play, was led by Thomas' 194 yards rushing and JeMicheal Williams' 111 yard receiving. The win was Fulton's third in a row and also increased the all-time series to 11-3 versus the Highlanders (6-1 at Highlander stadium). The Falcons (3-3 overall, 2-1 in Region 2-3A) travel to Kingston next week for another key regional matchup versus the Yellow Jackets.
