With 6:33 left in the forth quarter, Fulton Head Coach Buck Coatney noticed the hole and notified officials. The officials then notified the TSSAA and a decision was made to complete the game the following night at Alcoa's Goddard field. The sinkhole appeared to be about one foot in diameter at the surface, but upon further investigation it was discovered that there was actually an area about 12 feet deep that had been caving under.
