Falcons v Tornadoes Postgame/Sinkhole Coverage


In what was a bizarre turn of events, Fulton and Alcoa completed their suspended game this past Friday with the Tornadoes securing a 27-7 victory. The game had been suspended due to a large sinkhole that emerged on the home sidelines at Fulton's Bob Black field during Thursday night's game. With 6:33 left in the forth quarter, Fulton Head Coach Buck Coatney noticed the hole and notified officials. The officials then notified the TSSAA and a decision was made to complete the game the following night at Alcoa's Goddard field. The sinkhole appeared to be about one foot in diameter at the surface, but upon further investigation it was discovered that there was actually an area about 12 feet deep that had been caving under. The posponement of the game due to the sinkhole received national attention, as it was mentioned in the USAToday, the Atlanta Journal Constitution and on MSNBC.
